UBER’S FAILED PRECAUTIONS
Victims claim rideshare companies have failed to implement necessary safety precautions to protect their passengers, despite these companies being fully aware of the abuse that is taking place by way of their employees.
In 2022, Uber released a safety report that revealed 3,824 sexual assaults occurred during trips between 2019 and 2020. A similar report from Lyft found that over 4,000 sexual assaults occurred from 2017 to 2019.

Recent lawsuits highlight how some assaults during Uber rides could very well have been prevented had the company done its due diligence and put additional safety measures into place:
1. Thorough screening for drivers
2. Implementing safety design changes on the app
3. Remove drivers with a history of sexual assault
4. Respond to passenger complaints
In 2014, Uber implemented a “Safe Rides Fee” on their platform and claimed these fees would be used for driver training programs and background checks. However, lawsuits allege these fees were not used to improve safety.
If you were assaulted by an Uber driver, you are not alone. Specialized attorneys can help to navigate this difficult time and pursue compensation for counseling, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.
